Technology

What actually happens between the mains and your glass.

Water purification is easy to market and hard to verify. This page explains each stage, what it removes and why it matters — so you can judge our claims rather than take them.

The filtration path

Four stages, in this order, for a reason.

Each stage protects the one after it. Sediment would clog a membrane in weeks; chlorine would degrade it in months. Sequence is not a detail.

  1. 01

    Sediment pre-filter

A 5-micron pleated barrier catches rust, silt and pipe scale — the particulate that Malaysian municipal supply picks up between the treatment plant and your tap.

    Targets

    • Rust particles
    • Silt & sand
    • Pipe scale
  2. 02

    Pre-carbon block

Activated carbon adsorbs the chlorine used for municipal disinfection, along with the volatile organic compounds responsible for that faint chemical taste.

    Targets

    • Free chlorine
    • VOCs
    • Odour compounds
  3. 03

    Nano-membrane separation

The critical stage. A 0.0001-micron membrane separates dissolved contaminants at molecular scale — heavy metals, bacteria and microplastics do not pass.

    Targets

    • Lead & heavy metals
    • Bacteria & cysts
    • Microplastics
  4. 04

    Post-carbon polishing

A final carbon pass conditions the finished water for taste, removing anything the membrane stage left behind before it reaches the dispensing outlet.

    Targets

    • Residual taste
    • Trace organics

Not every model runs all four stages. Wiz V uses UF membrane filtration rather than Nanotech PAC, and the tankless models (One+, Superslim+) combine the sediment and carbon stages into a single pre-block cartridge. Each product page lists the exact filtration path for that unit.

System design

Filtration is only half the problem.

A perfect filter still delivers poor water if what comes after it is badly designed. These three decisions matter as much as the cartridges.

  • Direct flow, not stored

Conventional purifiers hold treated water in a reservoir, where it sits at room temperature between uses. Bluverra units purify on demand — water is filtered in the seconds between pressing the button and the glass filling.

  • Self-sterilising hot path

On models with a heating element, a scheduled cycle pushes water at 85 °C through the entire dispensing line. The outlet — the part of any purifier most exposed to the room — is sanitised from the inside.

  • Sealed filter cartridges

Filters are sealed units replaced whole, not media refilled into a reusable housing. The technician swaps a cartridge; nobody opens the water path to the air.

Verification

Tested against standards, not against marketing copy.

Filtration claims should be independently verifiable. Every Bluverra model is submitted for testing before it goes on sale, and the certificates are available on request — not summarised into a badge and left at that.

SIRIM product certification
Malaysian conformity assessment covering electrical safety and materials in contact with drinking water.
Drinking water quality criteria
Finished water tested against the Ministry of Health National Standard for Drinking Water Quality parameters.
Membrane performance testing
Independent laboratory verification of contaminant rejection rates across the rated cartridge life.
Materials compliance
All wetted components are food-grade and free from BPA, tested for leaching under tropical operating temperatures.

Certification scope varies by model. Specific certificate numbers are listed on each product's documentation pack and supplied at installation.
